Professional copy editing, proofreading, stylistic/line editing, and copy writing for academic, fiction, non-fiction, business, marketing, web, blogs, and more!
I’m Erin Miller, a professional freelance editor with training and experience in copy editing, stylistic and line editing, proofreading, and business and professional writing. I’ve taken courses through Simon Frasier University’s Editing Certificate program, and I continue to develop my skills through webinars and courses with Editors Canada, Copyediting, and online and in-person networking groups and events. I am a member of Editors Canada and the Writer’s Federation of New Brunswick.
Beyond my training as an editor and writer, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in English, and a diploma in Digital Media Design. My diverse educational background gives me a unique set of skills that allows me to be comfortable working in many different subject areas.
I’m a big believer in professional development! I keep my skills sharp by taking part in training and education opportunities whenever they’re available. In recent months, I’ve done training on editing for the web and creating compelling web content, and a course that covered most aspects of editing children’s literature. Over the summer I took what I like to refer to as an online copy-editing boot camp. These learning and development opportunities help keep my editing and writing skills sharp and up-to-date.
While my focus is on children’s/middle grades/YA fiction, general fiction and non-fiction, and academic editing, I love to explore different areas in editing and writing. I am especially interested in the topics of parenting and child development, education, psychology and mental health, food and nutrition, outdoor recreation, and arts and culture.
Fiction, non-fiction, blog posts, website content, brochures, grant proposals, academic writing, articles, newsletters, manuscripts, indie writing, self-publishing: I’ll edit it all. If your project needs some polish and your words need some sparkle, look no further—I’m here to help!
Check out my blog post (which is complete with a Game of Thrones reference) for some background on why I chose to name my writing and editing business The Eyrie (and to find out how an editor is like an eagle)!
Kind words from some satisfied clients:

…Once again let me remind you that YOU made my story a million times better from your care and attention to detail.
…Your work has created a miracle for me. I find myself at a loss for words to tell you how grateful I feel. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
…I want you to know that I feel like I struck Gold when you became my editor; you are the perfect editor for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“I consider myself a careful wordsmith. However, I’ve come to realize that I can’t be my own editor! Erin’s editing skills have been invaluable to our committee. Her professionalism, competence and prompt responses have made the process easy and effortless. I highly recommend her services and look forward to collaborating with her on other projects in the future!”

“Sometimes it takes a creative, careful editor to help you put into words what you intended to say. Erin maintains the tone and integrity of the writing while asking thoughtful questions to help the writer fully realize their intentions. The results speak for themselves.”
